JOIN HANDS DAY
This unique national day of volunteerism specifically targets young people and adults as they build relationships through volunteer activities in their neighborhoods. Created and sponsored by America’s fraternal benefit societies, such as Royal Neighbors of America, it is designed to improve communication between generations.
Youths and adults work together to plan, organize, and implement the day’s activities. As participants carry out their community service projects, it is likely that bonds of friendship will be created.
Royal Neighbor chapters are encouraged to partner with youths or adults (Scout troops, schools, churches, volunteer organizations, etc.) in their area to plan projects that will help develop friendships, support volunteerism, assist the community, and raise awareness of Royal Neighbors.
With the help of all chapter members, JOIN HANDS DAY will continue to be a day of great importance to communities across the country as well as to the fraternal benefit system.
It isn’t too early to begin making plans for future JOIN HANDS DAY projects. JOIN HANDS DAY is held the first Saturday in May each year.
