Elizabeth Spaunhorst and her grandson Wesley worked together to recruit 14 youth volunteers to build “Little Free Libraries” to share with their community. Wesley and his friends were learning about citizenship and how to be an active member in their community. They decided to create free libraries to share throughout their community. Wesley, his fellow 4-H members and their families gathered to build little libraries and even learned creative techniques to create painted designs. Volunteers also donated books to fill each little library to be shared with the community! Difference Maker Fund helped Elizabeth and Wesley cover the costs of the materials and fees necessary to build and register the libraries. The duo paired also encouraged a local hardware store to donate supplies. Together they created and shared four little libraries filled with books!
