Our members have upheld the Royal Neighbors tradition of serving communities for 125 years especially during times when our world and nation have been challenged by natural disasters, war, and pandemics.
Our Difference Maker Fund program is designed to help support member volunteer projects – even from home!
Ready to lead your own volunteer project from home? There are many ways to support your community while staying safe and practicing social distancing. Below are a few volunteer projects that you could implement, or you can come up with your own idea to support your community.
-
Meal Delivery: More time at home has impacted many families and individuals struggling with food insecurity. Support your community by preparing meals for those in need and delivering food to their doorstep. This neighborly action is a great way to help elderly neighbors and school-aged children.
-
Mask Making: As essential workers work hard each day to keep the nation running smoothly, personal protective equipment has become sparse. Many members have stepped up by sewing masks to share with local hospitals, doctor offices, and other medical care facilities.
-
Send Cards/Pen Pal: Practicing social distancing keeps us safe, but it can be a bit lonesome. To keep at-risk communities safe, many care facilities have restricted visitors in attempt to hinder the spread of the virus. Consider writing a letter or sending a card to local nursing homes or care facilities to share hope.
-
Virtual Donation Drive: There are still many groups, organizations, and nonprofits in need of community support as we continue to practice social distancing. Locate a worthy group in your community and encourage friends and family to donate through online purchasing and delivery directly to the group of your choice.
We would love to know about the results of your project! Don’t forget to complete your follow-up report here.
