As a two-time cancer survivor, Peggie Sherry of Tampa, Florida, understands first-hand the struggle to heal emotionally, physically and financially from the disease. Faces of Courage was founded by Peggie to bring cancer patients together at no-cost camps in a barrier-free, medically supervised environment. Men, women and children can build support systems, learn navigational tools, provide emotional support and alter attitudes toward survival and treatment. The camps are judgement-free in a comfortable atmosphere where they can just have FUN.
The Nation of Neighbors℠ empowerment grant will support the 2019 Teen Cancer Camp, a camp that went unfunded in 2018 leaving a gap for these families.
“Nothing gives me more joy than providing programs that promote empowerment and healthy outcomes. With the Royal Neighbors grant, we will be able to touch and change the lives of 60 teens fighting cancer,” said Peggie.
Faces of Courage has served more than 8,000 families free of charge and will continue to grow its mission of empowering and uniting cancer survivors.
Nation of Neighbors℠, Royal Neighbors’ signature program to empower women, provides financial assistance to individuals who have a plan to start or expand a business, an organization or group that helps women and girls. Nearly $2 million has been awarded since 2007.
