Experiencing education and career opportunity gaps as a student and then professionally was eye-opening for Zenaida Landeros. She started Empowering Latina Leadership Alliance (ELLA) to close those gaps and inspire Hispanic women to reach their full potential. Today ELLA is a new initiative within the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. It provides the Latina community services such as networking, programs with unique guest speakers and leadership training.
Zenaida is excited about the impact the $10,000 grant will have on ELLA. “This grant means that our work as women is undeniable. Everyone's journey is different as a daughter, sister, friend, business owner, college student or an ELLA member, but we all have the capacity to empower and support each other. As someone who has struggled to find my voice, it's amazing to have the support to impact my community in such a significant way.” By helping women utilize the opportunities of ELLA, she hopes to engage and empower more Latinas to broaden their reach in their community.
