Rock Island, Ill. (June 13, 2022) – Royal Neighbors of America, a fraternal benefit society located in Rock Island, Ill., has awarded $175,000 in scholarships to 41 Beneficial Members to assist with the costs of continuing education. The scholarships are awarded annually to help Members pursue post-secondary education at an accredited institution to obtain a trade or vocational degree, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or doctoral degree.

“We are grateful to offer our Members this opportunity each year and especially during this unique period of economic hardship as inflation impacts every household,” said Darcy Smith, Royal Neighbors Senior Member Engagement Specialist.

Berose Prosper is a student studying medical sciences at the University of South Florida and a recipient of a 2022 Royal Neighbors Scholarship. “This scholarship will assist in subsidizing the cost of my tuition by alleviating some of the financial challenges associated with earning my master’s degree,” stated Ms. Prosper. “Receiving this support also serves as a source of motivation for me to keep striving forward knowing that there are others out there willing to support me in realizing my dream of becoming a physician so that I can serve medically underserved communities in the future.”

“Our recipients continue to be leaders in their communities dedicated to giving back to those in need,” added Ms. Smith. “Wherever they go, I know they will make an impactful difference.”

Congratulations to the following scholarship recipients for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Since its inception in 1961, the Royal Neighbors Scholarship Program has provided more than $5 million in funding to qualifying Beneficial Member students who are selected based on their academic merit, community volunteer efforts, and leadership skills.
